Hailing from the Sunshine Coast of BC, 2012 Independent Music Award winner, DeAnna J Cartea, approaches her singer-songwriter canvas with a quiet confidence, generating a masterful blend of resonating tone and texture. With captivating vocals, haunting melodies, and thought-provoking lyrics, Deanna’s song writing has proven itself to be refined and accomplished.

Deanna’s debut album, “Open Road”, was first independently released in 2011 and found it's way onto radio stations across Canada, USA, and Europe. The album reached #2 on the Canadian Roots Rock Charts in the summer of 2012 and spurred two cross country tours for Deanna and her band with stops at both Indie Week Canada in 2012 and Canadian Music Week in 2013. Strong performances prompted the Toronto Music Scene to write.... “the smokiest, most dangerous vocals we've heard in awhile. Her music resonates, sends a chill down your spine..."

DeAnna joins Creative and Dreams Music Network 2015

"With a voice that is at once both instantly recognizable and mesmerizing, DeAnna captured the attention of Fred Cannon when he happened upon her music while surfing the internet. Excited by what he heard, Fred decided to record an album of some of her prior songs from the Open Road album. He enlisted the help of co-producer Paul Buono, and the end result is DeAnna’s  highly anticipated debut release for Creative and Dreams, ‘Second Chance – Songs I Wrote for You’.  Influenced by the genres of KT Tunstall, Mazzy Star and Chrissie Hynde, it is the empathy DeAnna brings to her songwriting, gleaned from a career in social work and intertwined with personal experience, that showcases her ability to create and convey from the heart."
